Starting 2017 my husband and I decided to grow up as far as our spending goes. We never say no to our wants or needs. Our kids have more than they could ever want or need and it’s been a blessing to be able to live in such a way. Now, we were blowing money on food and not paying attention to it. When we finally took the time to reflect on our spending habits we decided to pull back and become a bit more responsible. We can put that excessive spending elsewhere.

We have not gone out to dinner since the New Year started and have only ordered 2 times. So, I decided to try and make a fancy, shmancy dinner that we would have ordered if we had gone out to dinner. I had most of the ingredients at home so I didn’t have to go out and spend extra money.

I made Avocado, crab, and tomato stack for an appetizer.

Steak over mashed potatoes and asparagus for him.

Steak over mashed potatoes and asparagus covered with onions and mushrooms for me.

Avocado, crab & tomatoes stack.

His – Steak over Mashed

Hers – Steak over mashed with Mushrooms and Onions
